The leadership crisis within Sierra Leone’s All People’s Congress (APC) party continues to dominate political discourse, as criticisms mount against Dr. Samura Kamara, the party’s flagbearer in the recent elections.
Many party members and supporters have expressed dissatisfaction with Kamara’s leadership, attributing the APC’s electoral loss to what they describe as his “ineptitude” and lack of remorse.
Disillusionment has been brewing within the APC ranks, with some members accusing Dr. Kamara of sowing division through derogatory statements disseminated by his social media affiliates. These actions, they claim, have rendered many loyal APC supporters inactive and hesitant to challenge internal issues. Critics within the party argue that Kamara should have displayed accountability and humility in the wake of the party’s defeat.
Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara, the Opposition Chief Whip, has emerged as a vocal critic of Dr. Kamara’s leadership. He has called for a renewed focus on unity and progress within the APC, emphasizing the need to address internal conflicts. Speaking during a recent visit to the Kambia and Port Loko Districts, Hon. Karim Kamara reaffirmed his commitment to speaking truth to power, urging all party members to prioritize the party’s collective interests over personal ambitions.
The Chief Whip also lauded the APC executive for their efforts to uphold party values and protect its members, particularly highlighting the recent release of Hon. Bai Mamoud Bangura after nearly a year in detention. Karim Kamara expressed gratitude for Bangura’s exoneration and recommended him as a leader who commands respect and trust within the party.
In a symbolic gesture, the Chief Whip presented a traditional offering to the party executive, including raw rice, palm oil, and kola nuts, underscoring humility and respect. He reiterated that the APC is a home for all members and urged leaders to foster inclusivity and progress.
As the APC navigates this turbulent period, questions remain about the party’s ability to regroup and chart a united path forward. The coming months are expected to reveal whether these calls for introspection will lead to meaningful reforms within Sierra Leone’s main opposition party.
The sycophancy, etc. APC leaderships at home in Sierra Leone and in the Diaspora contributed to the demise and ongoing lack of impressive and purposeful senses of clear direction to impress voters across the board because their visions are too limited-horizoned and blinkered – I have not seen any credible policy from them. These leaderships must resign after urgent management of changes. The questions include:- why does APC UK & Ireland continue to be complacently quiet, and, do they have the intellect to contribute to this challenge? Seton During http://www.costscutters.uk
