The All Peoples Congress (APC) has announced an emergency meeting of its elected officials and members of the National Advisory Committee (NAC) to deliberate on recent developments concerning the proposed appointment of Mr. Edmond Sylvester Alpha as Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).
In a public notice dated 23rd February 2026, the APC said the meeting will bring together all members of the National Advisory Committee, all APC Regional Chairmen, District Chairmen, Members of Parliament, Mayors and Chairpersons, as well as Councillors across the country.
According to the notice, the emergency meeting has been convened “to deliberate on recent developments concerning the proposed appointment of Mr. Edmond Sylvester Alpha as Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).”
The party further stated that the meeting will provide an opportunity for the National Advisory Committee to convene immediately after the broader deliberations.
It added that members will “consider and approve agreed resolutions arising from the deliberations; and approve additional IECB members recommended to replace those who have been delinquent in their attendance of meetings.”
Details provided in the notice indicate that the meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 24 February 2026, at 1:00 p.m. It will take place at the APC Party Headquarters, We Yone Building, Old Railway Line, Freetown.
The APC emphasized that attendance is mandatory, describing the meeting as being of “critical national and institutional importance.” The notice states that all designated officials listed are required to be present and punctual.
The public notice was issued by the National Secretary-General of the APC, Lansana Dumbuya, and released from the party’s headquarters in Freetown.
