President and Leader of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, has cautioned party members against engaging in discussions on flagbearership or succession, describing such debates as premature and potentially damaging to party unity.
The President made the remarks while addressing the SLPP National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, where he underscored the need for the party to remain focused on governance and national development rather than internal succession politics.
According to President Bio, early debates over flagbearership risk distracting the party from its core responsibilities and could undermine cohesion at a time when national priorities demand collective attention and discipline.
He further emphasized the principle of collective loyalty within the party, stressing that personal ambitions must not overshadow the broader interests of the SLPP.
“Loyalty to the Party supersedes loyalty to any individual,” President Bio stated.
The President’s warning comes amid growing political conversations within party circles, as he urged members to maintain unity and focus on delivering effective governance for the people of Sierra Leone.
