Sylvia Olayinka Blyden has reacted to controversies surrounding the Freetown Mayor-elect, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr’s recent visit to the United States.

She took to Facebook asking the APC party members whom he referred to as Jihadists, to stop blaming the mayor-elect, stating that she is an opportunist and that she is not stupid as the party’s followers.

In her words: “Jihadists, why the attacks on Yvonne Aki Sawyerr? You always knew that woman is a blinking Opportunist. Yvonne is also not ‘BIKFUL’ lekkeh una followers way una day tupit”

This comes after Aki-Sawyerr was seen in the USA, functioning in governance against her party’s directives. Her action sparked wide condemnation with some regarding her as a “snitch”.

The Ministry of Local Government also took action against her by annulling the said agreement she presumed to have made with the New Haven city government, on grounds that she is not properly seated to enter into any agreement for and on behalf of the Freetown City Council.

However the Mayor elect in her part, replied that she didn’t enter into any legal agreement noting that there was already a signed agreement between the two cities and that it was only being acknowledged.
