Honourable Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah, widely known as Chericoco, officially stepped down from his position as the Deputy Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC) party, in line with the provisions set out in Article 47 of the APC’s 2022 Constitution.

The handover ceremony took place on October 10, 2024, at the party’s headquarters, marking the end of Chericoco’s tenure as the Deputy Leader of APC.

During the event, Chericoco handed over the keys to the office suites of the Deputy Leader of APC to Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya, in the presence of the National Chairman, Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, and other senior members of the party’s National Advisory Council (NAC). The ceremony was also attended by notable APC figures, including Dr. Samura Kamara, Amb. Osman Foday Yansaneh, National Publicity Secretary Sidi Yayah Tunis, Deputy Organising Secretary Cherno C.S. Kamara, and other prominent members.

In his farewell address, Chericoco expressed his gratitude to the APC Leadership and the entire membership for the opportunity to serve the party. He affirmed his loyalty to the APC and his willingness to continue serving the party in any capacity or assignment that may be given to him in the future. Chericoco’s heartfelt gesture of holding his hand to his chest during his remarks symbolized his unwavering dedication to the party’s values and objectives.

Chericoco has had a significant impact on both the APC party and Sierra Leonean politics. With his extensive experience as a three-time Member of Parliament and two-time running mate to Dr. Samura Kamara, his departure from the Deputy Leader position is seen as the beginning of a new chapter in his political journey.

The APC acknowledged Chericoco’s contributions to the party, emphasizing his dedication to the party’s mission and his role in strengthening its leadership. He has played a pivotal part in shaping the party’s strategies and advocating for its principles at various levels.

Following the handover ceremony, Chericoco also attended the launch of the two-day National Women’s Congress Conference at the APC Headquarters, showcasing his continued involvement in party activities and his commitment to fostering unity and collaboration among its members.
