The Chairman and Leader of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Ernest Bai Koroma who many say rarely speaks passionately about the state of the country, made an outburst recently while addressing the party’s Young People’s Congress at their retreat in Port Loko City.

The APC Chairman and Leader who plans to, anytime soon, relinquish his opposition has accused the current President Bio led government of having achieved virtually nothing on behalf of the ordinary man who, he said, the APC works for when in power.

Giving a vivid explanation of what the APC achieved during his hi rein, he said that, within four years of their first term in power, the World Bank rated Sierra Leone as not only the fastest growing economy in Africa but in the world and among the ten most reformed countries in the world. in recognition of this wonderful achievement, he said, he as president was invited three times to the White House during his tenure.

He lampooned the current SLPP government for taking credit for infrastructural development initiatives that were undertaken by the APC government including the road to Kailahun, the road to Liberia and the Rogbere Bridge.

Pointing to the current state of the economy, he recalled that when SLPP was campaigning in 2018, it repeatedly told the people that the economy was bad and that they would fix it in six months. He asked, “Where are we today three, four years down the inline?”

During the SLPP campaign trial, he said, they spoke a lot about corruption which according to him, they are yet to address. The former President further spoke of the astronomic rise in the price of rice and fuel since the current government assumed power. Referring to the government’s quality education claim, he asked, “Where are we three years down the line?”

His government, he said, increased the salaries of teachers and built more schools and universities but since this government came to power, all infrastructural development projects have slowed down because, according to him, this government has no appetite for development.

According to The Exclusive Newspaper, the APC Chairman and Leader commended and encourage the APC young folks, who come from all the fourteen districts in the country, to learn about the party; why it was formed; what it stands for, it aims, objectives and philosophy.
