Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, has publicly accused former SLPP Secretary General Umaru Napoleon Koroma of dishonesty and political deception in a sharp social media response to his recent post.
Koroma’s original message praised the party’s 14th national delegates conference, describing it as a globally acclaimed display of unity, love, and discipline. He emphasized that the event was conducted peacefully and transparently under clear directives from party leadership, aimed at celebrating whoever emerged victorious.
Koroma condemned the disruption that followed the conference, particularly the provocative chants against the First Lady during the parliamentary session, calling the behavior disgraceful. He lauded the dedication of the First Family, noting their active participation in party activities and efforts to mobilize support ahead of the 2028 elections.
Ending his post on a strong note, Koroma declared, “Only cowards attack women.”
However, the First Lady fired back in the comments, unleashing a scathing rebuttal accusing Koroma of dishonesty. She wrote:
“Umaru Napoleon Koroma, I need to be honest with your dishonesty. It may seem harmless or justified, but dishonesty creates distance and doubt. Trust is hard to earn and easy to lose. Please understand that honesty isn’t just expected, it’s essential. Be real, even when it’s hard. You were one of the masterminds behind everything.”
She questioned Koroma’s claim that he had “got [his] party back,” challenging him to clarify who he took the party from or who was allegedly holding it. She pointed to a video where Koroma clearly made the statement, accusing him of trying to fool some but not all SLPP members.
The First Lady warned that the true intentions of politicians like Koroma would soon be exposed to the party’s members. She also advised Koroma to remove references to her title in his post and focus instead on addressing the presidency, hinting that someone within the presidency might need to see his message.
This public confrontation exposes deep tensions within the SLPP as the party navigates internal divisions and gears up for the 2028 general elections.
