In a recently surfaced video that has gained traction on social media platforms, a man voiced his profound concerns about the deteriorating economic conditions in Sierra Leone.

Specifically, he highlighted the significant depreciation of the country’s currency, the Sierra Leonean Leone, in comparison to the Guinea Franc, the currency of neighboring Guinea. The man attributed this concerning development to the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio.

During his impassioned speech, the young man emphasized that his message transcended political affiliations, stating, “June 24 is not because you are APC or SLPP but for the suffering masses and the common man.”

He reminded viewers that when President Bio’s government assumed power, they pledged to effect positive change within six months, promising a prosperous future for Sierra Leone. However, after five years, the young man asserted that the current government has proven to be the worst Sierra Leone has ever witnessed.

The individual went on to highlight the stark contrast in currency values between Sierra Leone and Guinea, referring to Guinea as the equivalent of China and Dubai for Sierra Leoneans.

He lamented that the exchange rate between the two currencies had reached an alarming disparity. Notably, the Sierra Leonean Leone had significantly depreciated in value, while the Guinea Franc had tripled in value. This, according to the speaker, had dire consequences for Sierra Leoneans who relied on trade between the two countries.

The man continued to express his concerns about rising prices of essential commodities, such as rice and sardines, which had become unaffordable for the average citizen. He emphasized that this dire situation was not limited to political affiliations, urging Sierra Leoneans to prioritize their own lives and well-being over partisan loyalties.

In a strong message to the government, the speaker appealed directly to President Julius Maada Bio, urging him to peacefully step down from his position. Citing the immense hardships faced by the people of Sierra Leone, the young man argued that they were unwilling to endure another five years of suffering. He called upon the president to relinquish power and allow a peaceful transition of leadership for the betterment of the country.

The speaker also predicted a significant voter backlash against the president and his government, emphasizing that the upcoming election would result in a resounding defeat.

He further asserted that even traditionally supportive regions like Kenema and Bo would not stand by President Bio, anticipating a strong rejection from those areas.

The man concluded by condemning the reported intimidation tactics employed by the government and reiterated the need for change.
