Gambian and ECOWAS election observer, Honourable Dembo Camara has narrated his experience working in Sierra Leone in the 2023 elections.
Camara, who was also part of another observation mission in Guinea Bissau, said he visited two polling centres in the Western Rural District where he experienced a bittersweet moment.
The Gambian observer said while they were allowed at the polling centres in the early hours, the same was not repeated during the counting of ballots in the evening.
Camara also highlighted that the election in Guinea Bissau was different from that of Sierra Leone because locals in the country participated in a peaceful atmosphere.
He said although Sierra Leone has some difficulties, it is something they can improve on.
He commended some staff of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) while urging them to learn from the experience.
The ECOWAS mission is among several observation mission that partook in the just concluded elections on 24 June.
The mission comprises of observers from neighbouring West African nation.
