Chief Minster Jacob Jusu Saffa has been earmarked for the second time to lead the 2023 general elections campaign for the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).

This information was revealed by a senior SLPP member, Yusuf Sillah during the party current bye election campaign in Koya community, Port Loko district.

According to the Nightwatch Newspaper, Saffa will be selected by President Julius Maada Bio because of his tremendous effort in the past general election campaign and also for his good relationship with other category of people across the country like traditional and religious leaders.

SLPP stalwarts however are addressing the president to choose another campaign manager owing to deep divisions within the rank and file of the party.

Sillah also told this press that they current Chairman, Dr. Prince Harding, is also expected to hold such post since he had rich political experience.

The stalwarts noted that unlike 2018 election when the party faced constrained with some financial human resources, the 2023 elections will be different as many financiers are preparing to contribute to the campaign.

Saffa’s proposed selection is expected to cause more disunity in SLPP as there are other members like the ‘PAOPA’ group who thinks that the party should go in for as younger campaign manger for the 2023 elections. Professor David Francis Mohamed Orman Bangura and others are also in the race for the post of campaign manager.
