The Leader of the Main Opposition, the All People’s Congress (APC), Abdul Kargbo, has called on the party’s Independent Elections Management Committee (IEMC) to uphold neutrality, transparency, and professionalism in the ongoing Ward Executive elections.

Kargbo emphasized that the integrity of the electoral process must be beyond reproach, noting that equal treatment of all aspirants, strict adherence to the party’s rules, and a clear and transparent counting and declaration process are critical to sustaining confidence in the outcome.

“A free, fair, and credible election will strengthen unity and reinforce trust in our internal democratic structures,” he stated.

The opposition leader also urged party members across the country to conduct themselves with discipline and maturity throughout the exercise. He stressed that the elections are a crucial test of the APC’s commitment to democratic principles and internal cohesion.

Kargbo further advised members to reject violence, intimidation, inflammatory language, and any form of misconduct that could undermine the process. While encouraging supporters to passionately back their preferred candidates, he cautioned that such support must be expressed respectfully and within the bounds of party regulations.

“Victory must be met with humility, and defeat must be accepted with dignity,” he said. “We must remember that once this stage is concluded, we remain members of one party with a shared vision and common purpose. Our strength lies not only in winning positions, but in preserving unity and demonstrating that we can conduct our affairs in a peaceful, orderly, and democratic manner.”

He concluded by urging that the elections reflect the core values of the APC. “Let today’s exercise reflect the values we stand for. Discipline, fairness, and unity must guide us all,” he affirmed.
