Kasho J. Holland Cole, Chairman of the Western Area Rural District Council (WARDC) and Western Region Chairman for the All People’s Congress (APC), has issued a strong response to recent remarks by SLPP politician Kadiru Kakkai.

Kakkai has been quoted threatening to “wage war” in Sierra Leone if he is not elected president in 2028. Cole condemned these statements, calling them “unfortunate” and urging the security sector to “thoroughly investigate” the matter.

Cole emphasized the APC’s commitment to peace. He pointed to the party’s participation in the National Dialogue and the tripartite committee, established after the 2023 elections, which Cole described as “unfair.” These actions, he argued, demonstrate the APC’s dedication to peaceful resolution.

He further criticized Kakkai’s claim that the entire military fears him. “This is a blatant disrespect to President Bio, the Commander-in-Chief,” Cole stated.

Cole urged the SLPP to closely monitor Kakkai, suggesting such pronouncements could undermine President Bio’s authority. He also rejected Kakkai’s portrayal of the APC as intimidated, asserting the party’s focus on promoting national peace.

Finally, Cole took a swipe at Kakkai’s qualifications, suggesting he should show respect to the APC leader, Dr. Samura Kamara, for his education and experience.

This exchange highlights the ongoing political tensions in Sierra Leone. It remains to be seen how the authorities will respond to Kakkai’s comments and whether the APC’s calls for investigation will be heeded.
