Former Member of Parliament and one-time Minister of Transport and Aviation in President Ernest Bai Koroma’s government, Hon. Alhaji Kemoh Sesay, has stirred controversy with a recent viral audio message accusing President Julius Maada Bio of forcefully grabbing votes in the June 24 presidential election.

Speaking in a party’s social media group, Hon. Sesay asserted that during the general elections, he oversaw the Northwest Region, encompassing Kambia, Port Loko, and Karene Districts. He claimed that based on information, evidence, and personal observations, the APC party significantly won local council, parliamentary, and presidential elections in that region.

Hon. Sesay, drawing on the results from the Northwestern Region, Western Area, and Southeastern Region, argued that there is no convincing evidence that the APC lost the election. Despite President Bio’s victory announcement, he alleged that during National Advisory Council meetings, party members questioned the legitimacy of the outcome, with his consistent response being a denial of Bio’s win.

He contended that the elections are not concluded, referencing a communiqué from a dialogue involving all parties. According to Hon. Sesay, this communiqué outlines directives, including the release of political prisoners, withdrawal of political cases from courts, and an investigation into the 2023 elections.

Insisting that Dr. Samura Kamara remains the leader and flagbearer of the APC, Hon. Sesay stated, “As for me, I know that Maada didn’t win that election, and therefore the elections are not yet over.” He questioned the need for an investigation if the elections were truly concluded.

Accusing President Bio of forcefully seizing power, Hon. Sesay pledged to persist until the 2023 election investigation committee concludes otherwise. Urging his colleagues to authentically fight for the party and its leader, Dr. Samura Kamara, he maintained that President Bio was aware he didn’t win the election.

The situation remains tense as Hon. Kemoh Sesay stands firm in his conviction, challenging the legitimacy of President Bio’s victory and emphasizing the ongoing nature of the electoral process.
