One of Sierra Leone’s women and girls activists and entrepreneur, Naasu Fofonah has endorsed mayoral candidate Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr of the All People’s Congress (APC) for the June 24, 2023 elections.

In a Facebook post, Naasu endorsed the female politician stating that a woman is been shamed when she is illiterate and also shame when being educated and productive.

She also stated that people should implement President Bio’s Gender Act 2022 by voting for Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr which she said is a vote for Women’s Empowerment.

“A vote for Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr is a vote for Women’s Empowerment. Implement President Bio’s GEWE Act 2022 by voting for Yuonne”.

She emphasized that now is the opportune moment for women to unite and assume leadership roles, as there is a greater demand for women in political leadership.

Additionally, she highlighted her dedication to promoting women’s leadership, irrespective of their political affiliations.

Concluding her statement, she urged women to support one another, emphasizing that criticism from men will arise if they fail to seize the opportunities presented to them by President Bio.

“If we fail to elect our women, the men will say President Bio gives us 30% but we fail to vote for the women. So let’s win by voting for women”.
