An Opened Letter to The Diplomatic Corps in Sierra Leone, including the United States, United Kingdom, China, France, Germany, Russia, India, Nigeria, South Africa, and Brazil.

Your Excellencies,

The populace of Sierra Leone, particularly constituents of the All People’s Party (APC), are fervently advocating for the resignation of the entire APC executive, led by chairman Minkilu Mansaray. This judgment was made because the administration needs to significantly improve its duties to safeguard the populace and their votes during the June 24th, 2023, multi-tier elections. Additional principal factors include:

Minkiaklu Mansary, Chairman of the APC, has been compromised; rather than advocating for electoral justice, a common demand among the flag bearer and supporters, he is focusing on electoral reforms, recognizing that this is the sole means to sustain Maada Bio’s power against the people’s will. Instead of inquiring about the results of the June 24, 2023 polls, which were overtly manipulated, he is concentrating on the purported upcoming 2028 election; in his view, the 2023 elections are settled and concluded.

The Chairman of the APC directed his Secretary-General to arrange for a truckload of police officers to infringe upon the rights of impoverished supporters who assembled in front of the party headquarters to greet the foreign mission team assessing the stalemate between the APC and the SLPP. Regrettably, these individuals were subjected to tear gas canisters, and those unfortunate enough were apprehended and incarcerated.

Consequently, we urge the APC executive to resign immediately; otherwise, we will organize a substantial protest at the party headquarters shortly, expressing a vote of no confidence and demanding their resignation.

The citizens of Sierra Leone wish to emphasize their rights regarding social and political duties as a nation. Consequently, as a member of the global community that upholds democracy, the citizens of Sierra Leone should be permitted to enjoy their democratic rights freely, akin to individuals in any other nation. The right of Americans to show their democratic rights should likewise be granted to the people of Sierra Leone. There must be no exceptions in the acquisition of these rights. For example, individuals in the Western world are granted the right to protest against sovereign governments, corporate leaders, organizations, and systems. In that case, it follows that the citizens of Sierra Leone should not be excluded from this right.

The populace should possess the freedom to express their democratic dissent against an entity that has overstepped its mission and broken societal norms, contrary to public expectations and the authority granted to them. The APC executive has egregiously breached the party’s constitution and failed to meet its supporters’ expectations. Article 13 of the All Peoples Congress party constitution of Sierra Leone addresses anti-party activities. This article addresses resignation, suspension, expulsion, forfeiture, and re-application for membership if deemed deficient.

In this context, it is important to remember that members can initiate a non-confidence vote against current executive members who have been in the following Violation of the party’s regulations (constitution). Misconduct or behavior that has tarnished the party’s reputation, incompetence, and particularly anti-party activities, emphasizing engagement in actions contrary to the party’s policies and interests, such as supporting the ruling SLPP to persecute APC party supporters for selfish motives.

We anticipate that you will utilize your position to mediate among the populace, government, and law enforcement and intercede on the day APC supporters gather en masse to advocate for their rights if the APC leadership fails to step down honorably.
