The National Unity and Reconciliation Party [NURP] Flag bearer, Dr. Jonathan Sandy has asserted that the Anti-Corruption Commission should not only be about recovery.

He made this statement in an interview with the African Young Voices when explaining his political vision ahead of the upcoming 2023 elections.

He frowned at the ACC Strategy of recovering money from offenders after stealing without persecution.

He said that the threat to the country’s survival is its fragile institutions, adding that the law enforcement agencies and the criminal justice system are weak.

“I can come up with an economic security Agenda and that means the threat and risk to our economy is wasteful spending where a state capture organized crime and lays the foundation for financial corruption. I have the skills to empower the criminal justice system to investigate, convict and persecute people. We would jail people. The Anti-corruption should not be about recovery,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, in Sierra Leone, the ills of corruption are annually captured by the Auditor General’s Report published by the Audit Service Sierra Leone and other credible Civil Society-led assessments like the National Corruption Perception Survey.
