Moses Mambu, the National Publicity Secretary of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, has disclosed that the party has launched an extensive fundraising campaign as part of its early preparations for the 2028 general elections.

Speaking during a recent broadcast on Slik TV, Mambu revealed that the party’s executive has already raised more than Le 8 billion. He indicated that the initiative is ongoing, with a long-term target of accumulating between Le 40 billion and Le 50 billion to finance future electoral activities.

According to Mambu, the fundraising effort forms a central pillar of the party’s broader strategic plan to strengthen its institutional capacity. He explained that building a substantial financial base well in advance would enable the party to effectively manage campaign logistics, expand grassroots mobilization, and improve voter outreach ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The announcement reflects a shift toward early financial planning within the party, highlighting the importance of sustained resource mobilization in modern political campaigning. By prioritizing fundraising at this stage, the SLPP aims to position itself competitively and ensure operational readiness as the 2028 elections approach.

Mambu did not provide detailed information on the sources of the funds already secured but reaffirmed the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability in executing its plans. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the SLPP’s broader mission and long-term political objectives.

The development comes as political parties across Sierra Leone begin to recalibrate their strategies following the last general elections, with increased focus on organization, financing, and voter engagement.
