It has confirmed last night that one thousand and fifty-five (1,055) delegates of Sierra Leone people’s Party (SLPP) from sixteen political district in the country will be electing fiften national officers at the party’s convention at the Gallinas Hotel in Bo.

The eight-man Independent Election Monitoring Oversight Committee (IEMOC) chaired by Dr. David Moinina Sengeh will conduct the elections. President Julius Maada Bio and Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh will be endorsed as Leader and Deputy Leader of SLPP.

Their endorsement will automatically qualify President Bio to be the flag bearer of the SLPP at the 2023 Presidential and Parliamentary Election. Candidate are busy crisscrossing the Country to solicit Vote from delegates during the convention.

Meanwhile five senior officials of the Sierra Leone people party (SLPP) have opted to contest for the position of National Chairman of the Party. They include the incumbent, Dr. Momodu Koroma, Alex Bonapha, Jimmy Batilo Songa and Joseph S. Kelfala prince Harding who is seeking reelection has acted as National Secretary General of Party under the Tejan Kabba administration.

According to New Vision, Joseph S Kelfala was one-time Executive Director of SLRSA and Mayor of the Kenema City Council, Alex Bonapha is the Director of Decentralization Secretariat, Momodu Koroma has served as Minister of Presidential Affairs and Foreign Affairs during the Tejan Kabba era.

He was also the 2007 running mate to Solomon Ekuma Berewa. Jimmy Batilo Songa is the current National Organizing Secretary and Deputy Commissioner of NaCSA. All of them, are said to have played their roles towards the Development of SLPP over the years.
