A contingent of Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) members and supporters from Tonkolili District convened at the party’s national headquarters on Thursday, peacefully expressing their grievances regarding alleged irregularities in recent constituency executive appointments.
The aggrieved party members from Tonkolili provided significant evidence indicating that a faction of the party’s executive in their district had unlawfully imposed certain people upon them as party executives for their constituencies, contravening the party’s fundamental constitution.
Additionally, they expressed more shock upon noticing that the PPRC recommended NEC approval of the constituency polls that were not conducted and had altered names, while simultaneously demanding a rerun of the constituency elections that were legitimately held.
They made it clear that their presence at the party’s headquarters was not in favor of any candidate.
Finally, SLPP members and supporters in Tonkolili District would rather communicate their concerns to the Leadership about their burning issues because noting that mishandling the matter might significantly decline the party’s influence in Tonkolili District.
