Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden OOR has once again drawn attention to what she describes as a serious betrayal of the APC by some of its own Parliamentarians during President Maada Bio’s SLPP government.

In a post reflecting on her Audio 102 broadcast aired on 22nd January 2023, Dr. Blyden raised alarms about how Hon. Chericoco led APC MPs to team up with the SLPP and President Maada Bio to give unprecedented powers to the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC).

According to Dr. Blyden, the APC MPs never came first to inform or consult with citizens before making moves that removed safeguards previously put in place by the late President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah and the 1996–2002 Parliament. “The safeguards by H.E. Kabbah of blessed memory were done to protect Sierra Leone’s multi-party democracy and secure political parties from undue PPRC subjectivity,” she emphasized.

She urged true APC members to listen to her broadcast, describing it as a “voice of reason” where she spoke calmly, clearly, and confidently to protest what she calls a big betrayal of APC by those MPs. Dr. Blyden also recalled the period when certain APC leaders were removing anyone from party WhatsApp groups who dared to share her audios, intimidating members to stop her from being heard.

Dr. Blyden’s post challenges APC members to judge their conscience, asking: “Is Sylvia Olayinka Blyden really the bad person or were the actual bad people the ones who were telling you not to listen to her audios?”

She also noted that her only “crime” was refusing to stop her sisterhood relationship with Fatima, highlighting her honesty and integrity in contrast to other APC stakeholders who hide their friendships with SLPP stalwarts. “That is integrity – the highest form of integrity, in fact,” she wrote.

The post encourages APC supporters to listen to Audio 102, describing it as a “masterpiece” in which she criticizes both the SLPP government for changing protective laws and Hon. Chericoco for failing to defend the APC’s interests. The broadcast originally ran 42 minutes, but only the first 34 minutes are relevant to the PPRC matter.

She concluded by urging members to listen, learn, and give credit to her as an APC woman whose credibility, integrity, and intelligence stand as assets to the party.
