Popular Sierra Leonean politician and lawyer, and a member of the main opposition, All Peoples Congress (APC) Party, Chernor Abdal Osman Timbo, has sent a heartfelt message to the former flagbearert of the National Grand Coalition (NGC) party, Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella.

Timbo sent this message in response to recent speculations that the former NGC presidential aspirant will be making a switch to the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).

In a post shared on social media, Timbo urged KKY to maintain his respect and integrity by resigning from politics instead of making a decision that will have him tagged as one of those politicians who sold out their people for personal ambitions.

“Dear Hon. Yumkella,

You know I respect you so much right? I hope you remember all the things you’ve preached for and against. People believed and followed YOU, they wanted a break from the status quo and they thought you were the NEW HOPE. Remember what you said about ALUSINE and ALHASSAN right? Remember 3 sets of people followed you; APC supporters, SLPP supporters and NON-ALIGNED supporters. Many will go back to their original bases and blame you forever for letting them down.

I trust you will do what is right. The most honourable thing for you to do now if you can’t continue is TO RESIGN FROM POLITICS AND KEEP YOU REPUTATION INTACT.

…otherwise, forever you will be tagged as one of those politicians who sold out your people for your ambition. Remember how this will affect your kid and family for the rest of their lives.

Yours faithfully,

Osman Timbo
(that young MP who you frequently referred to while he was in Parliament. That young MP who thought you were different. That young MP who thought your international reputation made you bigger and place SALONE FOS).”
