The Acting National Chairman of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Amb. Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh, has called on party members to embrace unity, discipline and internal democracy as the party prepares for a new political chapter, describing the Christmas and New Year period as a moment of renewal and strategic reflection.
In a Christmas and New Year message issued to APC members in Sierra Leone and the Diaspora, Yansaneh said the festive season, marked by the celebration of the birth of Christ, carries values of peace, sacrifice, renewal and hope that are relevant to the party’s current direction. He said the period should inspire reflection not only on faith and family, but also on responsibility and the future of the APC.
According to Yansaneh, Christmas this year comes at a decisive moment for the APC, coinciding with the end of one phase and the beginning of another focused on renewed determination, institutional clarity and preparation for electoral victory. He pointed to the publication of the party’s Rules and Regulations governing internal elections as a key milestone, saying it demonstrates the APC’s commitment to transparency, constitutionalism and internal democracy.

He noted that the conduct of internal elections and other preparatory democratic activities in the new year should not be seen as routine exercises, but as deliberate steps aimed at rebuilding confidence, strengthening unity and repositioning the APC as a party ready to govern. He added that democracy within the party is essential for building national credibility.
Reflecting on political challenges, Yansaneh said history shows that justice in politics is not achieved through complaint alone, but through organization, discipline and victory at the ballot box. He stated that “justice in politics is not secured by complaint alone; but by organization, discipline, and triumph at the ballot box,” emphasizing that electoral success is key to securing authority and advancing justice.
The APC Chairman said the party’s focus remains on winning the trust of its members internally and, ultimately, the confidence of the people of Sierra Leone. He urged party members to rise above division, respect agreed rules and place party interest above personal ambition as the new year approaches.
Yansaneh expressed hope that the spirit of Christmas would help heal differences within the party and renew faith in what he described as the APC’s destiny. He concluded by wishing members a Merry Christmas and a prosperous and purposeful New Year, and offered blessings for the APC and Sierra Leone.
