The Sierra Leone national senior men’s team- Leone Stars- has this morning safely touched down at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi after the team’s recent friendly clash with Comoros in Turkey.
This follows the non-confirmation of a second friendly with Burundi in this month’s FIFA international friendly window for which the SLFA had been in negotiation with the Burundian FA who were also in Turkey for a friendly match.
Furthermore, the SLFA President Thomas Daddy Brima, some officials and the foreign based players are still in Istanbul as they await next available flights from Turkey to Freetown and other respective destinations.
During this wait, the SLFA Boss looks forward to paying a day’s working visit at the Turkish Football Federation to foster bilateral ties.
Leone Stars lost to The Coelacanths of Comoros by 2:0 making it the second defeat suffered by Sierra Leone in the last five friendly matches, the other being the 2:1 defeat to Morocco.
In the other three friendly encounters; Leone Stars drew 0:0 against Ethiopia, 1:1 against South Sudan and defeated The Gambia by 2:1.
