Arsenal’s prolific teenage winger, Osman Kamara has agreed to represent the Sierra Leone U20 team in the upcoming junior African Cup of Nations (AFCON) next month.

The teenager made this decision after meeting with Sierra Leone football scout, Morlai Kamara in London on Saturday evening.

Kamara, who joined the Arsenal academy in 2014, signed his first professional contract with the North London club in June 2024. The teenager is described by Arsenal as a talented and skilful winger after netting nine times in 14 U18 Premier League appearances. Kamara has also represented Arsenal U21 in the Premier League 2, the FA Youth Cup and the UEFA Youth League.

Until Saturday, Kamara was eligible to represent England, his country of birth, but that seemed unlikely given his decision.

The teenager has joined the ranks of West Ham’s Aaron Kamara and Crystal Palace’s Hindolo Mustapha to represent the Shooting Stars in this year’s junior AFCON.

Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone FA is currently working on convincing PSV Eindhoven’s Isaac Babadi to join the team before the tournament starts next month.
