The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, has attended his first Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in his capacity as a Member Association (MA) President, following a special invitation from CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

The landmark participation marks a significant milestone for Sierra Leone football, reflecting the country’s growing visibility and involvement in continental football governance.

While in Morocco, where the tournament is being hosted, President Kamara held engagements with fellow MA Presidents, senior CAF officials, and key football stakeholders from across the continent. The meetings provided opportunities to strengthen relationships, exchange ideas, and explore strategies aimed at advancing football development in Sierra Leone and Africa at large.

The engagement underscores the SLFA’s commitment to collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic positioning within African football. Through such high-level participation, the association aims to enhance its institutional capacity, attract partnerships, and adopt best practices from more established football federations.

President Kamara’s presence at AFCON reflects a forward-looking vision for Sierra Leone football, anchored on growth, professionalism, and active participation in shaping the future of the sport on the continent.

His attendance further strengthens ties between the SLFA and the Confederation of African Football, while signaling Sierra Leone’s ambition to play a more influential role in African football affairs.
