The Bo District Football Association (BoDFA) successfully wrapped up the First National Division One Play-offs in a thrilling finale held at the Coronation Field in Bo City on Tuesday 29th August 2023.
The closing ceremony was marked by the esteemed presence of the Bo District Football Association Executive Members, alongside the Southern Region Football Association Executive Members, football stakeholders from across the district, passionate fans, players, coaches, and the press.
Commencing from the 6th to the 29th of August 2023, the competition showcased the skills of 12 First Division teams from Bo District, ultimately leading to the clash between Ram Kamara FC and Alma FC in the final match.
In a suspense-filled game that unfolded on the field, Ram Kamara FC managed to secure a 2-0 victory over Alma FC. The crucial goals were scored by Foday Kpaka and Sulaiman Sesay in the second half of the match. Despite their commendable efforts, the tenacious Alma FC couldn’t break through the opposition’s defense. The intensity of the match was further heightened by controversies that arose following Ram Kamara’s second goal.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Mr. Abdul Ahmed Bangura, the Chairman of BoDFA, expressed his gratitude to both competing teams for their outstanding performance throughout the tournament. He highlighted the significance of both victory and defeat in every competition, emphasizing the commitment displayed by the teams despite a few contentious issues. Mr. Bangura assured the attendees that a thorough investigation would be conducted and appropriate actions taken.
The chairman also extended his appreciation to prominent figures who contributed to the success of the event. He recognized the support rendered by Mr. Babadi Kamara, the Executive Chairman of Bo Rangers, Chairman Rodney Michael of Mighty Blackpool, and Mr. Alusine Kamara, the Chief Executive Officer of Ram Kamara.
Looking ahead, Mr. Bangura pledged his association’s unwavering support to the two teams that emerged victorious and secured a spot in the regional playoffs. He further promised that if these teams continue to perform well and advance to the national play-off, BoDFA would stand by them.
The event concluded on a celebratory note as medals and trophies were presented to the winners, Ram Kamara FC, as well as the runner-up, Alma FC. The tournament not only showcased the talents of the district’s football players but also highlighted the passion and camaraderie that fuels the local football community.
