The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has postponed its much-anticipated elective congress from June to July 26, 2025, in Freetown.

The event will see 57 delegates vote for a new executive committee to lead the country’s football administration for the next four years.

The delay follows an ordinary congress held on April 26, which was marred by disruptions and unresolved disputes. Delegates rejected proposed amendments to the SLFA statutes, with 36 voting against adoption and only 20 in favor—falling short of the required two-thirds majority.

Despite the chaos, key committees were formed, including the Disciplinary, Ethics, and Electoral Committees, tasked with ensuring a fair election process. However, delegates raised concerns over unpaid allowances and logistical issues, including being forced to vacate the venue midway for a wedding reception.

Current SLFA President Thomas Daddy Brima is expected to seek re-election while Bo Rangers Chairman, Babadi Kamara is also in the race.

The July congress will be a critical test for the SLFA’s governance and the future of football in Sierra Leone.
