Port Loko has come alive with football fever as the Community Action for All (CAFA) 100 Million old Leones Gala Competition enters match day eight, bringing excitement and community spirit across Port Loko, the North West Region of Sierra Leone

Speaking on the significance of the event, Alhaji Sankoh, Head of Competition at the North West Region Football Association and Coordinator of the CAFA Gala, described the initiative as “the first of its kind in the history of Port Loko.” He noted that CAFA, which has existed for over 20 years, has long organized mini-leagues to scout emerging talent, but this landmark 100 million competition marks a new chapter.

“This is a regional inclusion of teams from Lungi, Kambia, Port Loko and other areas,” Sankoh said, stressing that beyond football rivalry, the tournament promotes peace, offers young players the chance to play on artificial turf, and creates opportunities for future scouting.

A total of 16 teams are competing, with the group stages set to conclude on 19th October before the quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place playoff, and grand finale.
