In recent times, there has been growing concerns from Muslim worshipers over a recent letter issued by the Ministry of Sports instructing Sheik, Abdul Karim Kamara and others to Vacate the structure being used as a Mosque within the Ministry of Sports Precincts at the National Stadium.
The letter which was dated 11th December 2023 described the structure as illegal occupation of the Ministry’s Edifice and an insecurity threat.
According to the said letter, the leadership of the Ministry in August 21st and 25th had an engagement with the Imam concerning the ongoing rehabilitation Project and Security threat posed on the Ministry especially after office hours.
However, there has been growing concerns from the Muslim community and worshipers who stay within the community and other who frequent the Mosque during football Matches break at the National Stadium.
Popular Journalist, and Philanthropist Abdul Rahman Jalloh revealed in a Facebook post that the said Mosque has existed for over 27years in the community. He said, “As Muslims we need to stand up so that this Masjid would not be demolished .It has existed for over 27 years now and then she want it demolished due her hatred for the Deen[Religion],”
He calls on Muslims to wake up and voice out their concerns for the Mosque at the National stadium not to be demolished by the Current sports Minister. He affirmed that for over 27years the Mosque has served and it is still serving the Muslim community in the area.
SL Islamic Web TV, an Online Islamic platform has also questioned the Minister of Sports on the rationale behind the closure of Mosque after being in existence since 1995.
The web Tv pointed out that even Staff of the Ministry are using the facility to offer prayers adding that numerous Ministers have come and go without any issue with the Mosque.
That is rubbish even if the Mosque has existed for over 500 years it must be demolished!

It’s really not good . We are kindly begging the said Minister to stop the demolition of that mosque . 27yrs is not 27days .
Hmmmm! This action needs due diligence. If this masjid has been there for 27 years I wonder if the previous administrators had ever engaged the Imam and stakeholders. If not , lets be becareful with such action.
I think we should stop this religious sentiments and things should be done in the right way. Can we talk about the unhealthy working environment this has caused and am sure there might be some other security threats which has warranted this.
It really good that the President who appointed her into that office is someone who is religious tolerance and he also believe in both religions, and by his grace she will not complete the five years mandate in that office she will be sacked

She doesn’t really know what she is up that’s why. How can she authorized people to break down a mosque, May Almighty Allah 🙏 have Marcy on us because these are some of reasons why our land is always facing challenges.

Only in our country. Even religious organizations are squatting and then act like they own the property. How is the stadium being turned into a mosque?

Who is the owner of the land where the Masjid is located?
What is the arrangement/agreement between the two?
What kind of security threat this masjid has pose to the minister or her office? If this masjid has been in existence for 27years or more and all previous sports ministers didn’t know about these threats the masjid is posing on the office, then I will say otherwise. Md minister of sports can you please bring forward some of the security threats this masjid is posing or has posed during this your short tenure. Allah will not have it , for whosoever tries to demolish his house on earth. Have you heard about the story ” The Elephant or Year of the Elephant”? It’s a story about people who decided to destroy God’s house (Kabba), God send down a flocks of bird with pebbles and those pebbles where used to crushed the people. Md. minister my advice to you is to forget about demolishing of that masjid and concentrate on your job description as sport minister as there are a lot of issues of concern with the SLFA.
I asked the former Permanent Secretary in a meeting to present evidence from the handling over notes of hos predecessor that the Mosque was a security threat but there is no such evidence. Maybe this is out of her hatred for Islam. We have no power no might, we rely on Allah.

As a well home trained individual, you must not misuse the media such way where as you are addressing your parents age group and also there are siblings who are copying from you.

Madam Minister, you are no longer presiding over APPA. Your decision is untenable and would put you at crossroads with even the administration. What would really move you to make such an autocratic, insensitive, politically incorrect decision on a place of worship that has been in existence for 27 years.
You need an adviser to let you avoid such minefields. Certainly, there are more pressing matters in your ministry , needing immediate attention, than the demolition of a mosque. Did you think of the backlash from the Muslim community?
Please be more sensitive, apologize to the Muslim community and abandon that idea. Your name is not even yet etched in the Ministry and all you could think about is demolishing a place of worship, in existence even before you dreamt of being a Minister.
At a time like this, we need to unite the Nation, not divide it, with such insensitive action. There are some of us fighting to eradicate unpatriotic souls, hell bent on destroying to his Nation. Please do not provide them with ammunition to justify their wicked acts.
Your knee jerk reaction to what you claim to be security concerns is not in line with President Bio’s vision of religious tolerance.
I hope this would let you rethink your decision and cause you to concentrate in innovative ideas to improve the sporting discipline in Sierra Leone. That should be your focus and if you really concentrate on that mission, demolishing a mosque would not be on your agenda.

With all due respect madam Minister 🙏🏿 and without being sentimental, it’s better for you not to demolish the mosque it’s a place of worship for the Almighty Allah/God. The reasons you mentioned is not enough for you to do that.
