The Board Chairman of Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL), Francis Trevor Samura, has called on pupils of the Annie Walsh Memorial Secondary School to actively embrace cricket and explore the opportunities the sport offers for young women in Sierra Leone.
Chairman Samura made the appeal on Monday while presenting certificates to the school for its participation in the ICC Women’s Cricket Week, an event aimed at promoting and expanding female involvement in the sport.
Addressing staff and pupils, Samura commended the school for its enthusiasm and highlighted that Annie Walsh houses a remarkable pool of talented young cricketers. He noted that several girls from the institution have shown exceptional promise and could potentially represent Sierra Leone on the international stage if they continue to nurture their skills.

He extended appreciation to the school administration for supporting Cricket Sierra Leone’s development initiatives and for encouraging students to engage in sports that build discipline, teamwork, and confidence.

The Chairman also disclosed that CSL successfully engaged over six thousand girls across its four-day programme marking the ICC Women’s Cricket Week an achievement he described as a major step toward expanding the female cricket pipeline nationwide.

Annie Walsh Memorial School played a significant role in this milestone and remains a key contributor to the growth of women’s cricket in Sierra Leone.
