The highly anticipated matches at the newly renovated SLFA Academy playing field ended in a defeat for East End Lions and a win for FC Kallon.
The games held this weekend marked the start the Leone Rock Premier League second round.
Sulaiman S. Kargbo broke the deadlock for East End Lions, scoring in the 59th minute to give the hosts the lead in the second half. Despite Bhantal FC’s valiant efforts to equalize, they struggled to convert their chances into goals.
However, the tide turned in Bhantal FC’s favour when Mohamed Bangura successfully converted a penalty in the 80th minute to level the score. In a nail-biting finish, Mohamed Kamara secured the match-winning goal for Bhantal FC in the 94th minute, sealing their victory in a thrilling encounter.
FC Kallon are currently second in the league with 35 points followed by Bhantal FC with 34 points in the third position of the second phase of the Leone Rock Premier League 2023/24 season trailing behind League Leaders Bo Rangers.
However, there were notably constraints in relation to the seating arrangement at the new artificial Turf. Supporters were seen standing under the scorching sun to cheer their teams with no seating provisions.
