Mahmoud Kargbo, the Chief Coordinator of the female football club owners’ pre-season competition, has unveiled the exciting details of this year’s tournament.

Set to commence on the 2nd of September, the competition will see a total of eight clubs, including two foreign teams, battling it out for supremacy.

Kargbo revealed that the highly anticipated pre-season tournament, taking place in Kenema City, Eastern Sierra Leone, is designed to provide female football clubs with a platform to assess their strengths and weaknesses in preparation for the upcoming league season. This initiative comes on the heels of the successful conclusion of the country’s inaugural female top-flight league in March, which marked a significant milestone for women’s football.

The participating teams have been grouped into two divisions: Group A comprises StagesQueens from Liberia, the reigning champions of the Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League Mogbwemo Queens FC, Malema Queens, and Ram K FC. Meanwhile, Group B features Club Olympique de Ratoma (C.O.R) from Guinea, Kahunla Queens FC, the runner-up of the maiden Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League, FC Kallon Female, and Tulane Queens.

In an exciting revelation, Kargbo shared that the champions of the tournament will be rewarded with a prize of Twenty Thousand Leones (NLe 20,000), a pledge graciously extended by Haja Ramatulai Kamara, an esteemed member of the Sierra Leone Football Association Executive Committee and the Head of Female Football.

The 2023 female football club owners’ pre-season competition promises an action-packed kickoff on the 2nd of September. The opening match will see Ram K Football Club facing off against Stages Queens in a showdown scheduled for 2:30 pm. Subsequently, at 4:30 pm, Mogbwemo Queens FC will go head-to-head with Malema Queens FC. All these exciting encounters will unfold on the hallowed grounds of Kenema City field
