The Sierra Leone national team, nicknamed the Leone Stars has retained 122 in the latest FIFA World Rankings, maintaining similar position in the past two rankings.
According to the list released on Thursday by the world football governing body, Leone stars retained 1149.4 points to rank 122 globally and 34 in Africa.
The update in rankings comes after the conclusion of the recent international competitions, the European Championships in Germany and the Copa America in the USA.
In June, Leone Stars of Sierra Leone have moved from 126th to 122nd after securing four points in World Cup qualifiers in June. Sierra Leone’s Leap follows its performance in the two matches during the World Cup Qualifiers where they defeated Djibouti 2-1 and held Burkina Faso to a 1-1 draw.
The top three nations remain unchanged on the continent, with Morocco (14) top ahead of Senegal (19) and Egypt (36) respectively. Ivory Coast are 38th on the latest rankings placing them fourth in Africa.
Argentina, which successfully defended their Copa America title last weekend, retain the top spot globally ahead of second-placed France.
The Albiceleste doubles their points lead over Les Blues in the process. However, Spain, the Euro 2024 champions, won the most points and moved up five to third, ahead of England and Brazil in the top five.
The next FIFA world ranking will be released on September 19, 2024.
