FIFA’s Regional Technical Consultant, Dominique Niyonzima, has conducted a transformative workshop aimed at elevating coaching standards in Sierra Leone.
The session, held for Premier League and National Team coaches, drew notable figures including Mohamed Kallon, Amidu Karim, John Edward Keister, and Mohamed Lamin Kamara.
During the workshop, Niyonzima stressed the critical role of humility, hard work, patience, and continuous skill development in fostering a high-performance football culture. The event highlighted FIFA’s commitment to nurturing football excellence across member associations.
Niyonzima commended the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) for its robust infrastructure and suggested the association is well-placed to apply for FIFA’s prestigious Talent Coach program. If approved, this initiative would assign a world-class coach to Sierra Leone for two years, offering an unparalleled opportunity to further enhance the nation’s football ecosystem.
Additionally, Niyonzima underscored the potential of FIFA’s Football for Schools initiative. He encouraged sustained collaboration between the SLFA and the Ministries of Sport and Education to integrate football into schools, nurturing grassroots talent and fostering the sport’s development from an early age.
This workshop marks a significant step forward for Sierra Leone’s football, reflecting the nation’s commitment to achieving international standards and empowering its coaches to shape the next generation of football stars.
