As the 2024/25 Leone Rock Premier League enters its final stretch, tension is running high at the bottom of the table where the battle for survival remains fiercely contested.

With only one or two fixtures left to play, the fate of several clubs hangs in the balance. Freetown City FC, sitting on 20 points, and Bullom Stars FC with 30, are already staring at life in the lower division. Their current tallies leave them mathematically out of reach of safety.

The real drama, however, is unfolding just above them. Mighty Blackpool, on 37 points, and Kamboi Eagles, with 32, are both in precarious positions. Blackpool’s survival chances rest on their next match, while the Eagles, currently in 16th place, must win and hope results elsewhere turn in their favour if they are to pull off a last-minute escape.

Abacha City FC (38 points) and Wusum Stars FC (39 points) may appear safer on paper, but neither side can breathe easily yet. A defeat in their remaining games could see them dragged into the bottom four, particularly if Kamboi Eagles manage to collect maximum points. In such a tight race, goal difference could ultimately decide who stays and who goes, with Wusum boasting an advantage at -6 compared to Abacha’s -14.

Supporters across the country are bracing for a thrilling finale. The final whistle of the season may not only determine champions but also decide the fate of proud clubs fighting to preserve their place in Sierra Leone’s top flight.
