Over 150 grassroots football coaches from across Sierra Leone are participating in a Coaching “B” course organized by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).
The two-week course, which began on Wednesday, 24th July 2024, marks a pivotal moment for Sierra Leonean football, serving as a cornerstone in the pursuit of excellence.
SLFA Technical Director Ibrahim Bah emphasized the significance of the Coaching ‘B’ Certificate, stating, “This certificate represents a significant step forward in coaches’ careers. It is a testament to their commitment to professional development and their ability to impart advanced tactical, technical, and physical training methods to their players.”
Bah reiterated SLFA’s commitment to providing quality courses that meet the needs of coaches and the broader football landscape in Sierra Leone. He noted that these efforts will be futile without the support of clubs in employing qualified coaches. “The use of licensed coaches is not just a requirement, but a necessity. It is a direct investment in the future of our game. By employing qualified coaches, clubs ensure that their players receive the best possible training, increasing their chances of success and contributing to the overall development of Sierra Leonean football,” Bah added.
The course is being conducted by an esteemed panel of instructors, including National Head Coach of Leone Stars Amidu Karim, Assistant Head Coach Francis “Zappa” Koroma, U-20 Head Coach Mohamed Lamin, Bo Rangers Head Coach John Edward Keister, and coaches Fatmata Turay, Dominic John Konneh, Ibrahim Sillah, Abu Sankoh, Mohamed Billo Bah, and Daniel.
Participants, including former Leone Stars players such as Pa Saffa Mustapha Sama, Umaru “Cat” Samura, Sama Banya, and Marie Deen, expressed their gratitude for being included in the training. They committed to applying their newfound knowledge in their respective communities and clubs to positively impact the next generation of young players.
