Sierra Leone national team coach Sillas Tetteh has told Football Sierraleone that he has not run away or abandoned the Leone Stars job as reported by local media in Sierra Leone but rather went to attend to family issue in Ghana.

Leone Stars are set to battle Gabon and Sudan in Freetown in March and June 2016 respectively in their remaining home ties of the Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, for the first time since they last host Seychelles in July 2014.

The Confederation of African Football CAF says Sierra Leone can now host international matches after (WHO) confirmation that the country is free of the Ebola epidemic, but is not yet clear whether Tetteh will be in charge for the Gabon and Sudan matches.

Tetteh admitted that he was disappointed after the Chad game, but has no intention to run away or abandoned the Leone Stars Job as reported by local Media in Sierra Leone but rather went to attend to a family issue in Ghana.

He said: “After the Chad game when we returned, obviously disappointed, we played and won the match in Nigeria, but the result was not in our favour.

“Credit to the players, they tried all they could but was not enough for qualification. I had to travelled to Ghana to see my family and to get a little rest and this was done by the noticed of both the SLFA and the GFA,” He told Footballsierraleone.

Tetteh, 58, reiterated that his contract runs out on the 15th of November 2015 and will have to seat with the football body (SLFA) for further talks.

A source close to the SLFA has confirmed that the Ghanaian is under review after Sierra Leone was eliminated by Chad from the World Cup qualifiers.

Tetteh was contracted for three months and on his first match against the African reigning champions in September, he guided Sierra Leone to a goalless draw before narrowly eliminated by away goal rule against lowly rated Chad in the 2018 World preliminary round.
