“Sierra Leone’s national male senior football team, Leone Stars, newly appointed head coach, Mohamed Kallon, expressed gratitude for the position bestowed on him to serve his nation
“I played for the national team for many years and served as the team captain for many years, but this is the first time i am serving in this capacity, and I am over excited and it’s a honor to serve Sierra Leone.”
Kallon stated that he has been in the country for two years now watching and observing the country’s Premier League and also follow most of the players, so it was easy for him to select those players, because they have done well as they put in their best performance in the league adding that it been far too long homebase players are been critized.
He continued that the country previously did not challenged these players much to see that they keep up to the task. He also said to build up a proper national team, one have to handle a very good foundation and the foundation have to be from the home.
He further stated that he still believe and trust the international players because of their level of standards and he know whenever they come in they are going to give something better because of where they are playing.
He said their is too much of critisism on the involvement of more local players, assuming they cant compete at that, which is why he is challenging them and give them the opportunity to play and later make his judgement.
He said they want to build a strong team so they are bringing the players to access them as he believes in performance, and non performimg players will be left out.
according to him one have to give 110% while serving their country by doing something remarkable or something to help the national to win.
He also said most of the players who have been cut off the squard still deserve to be in the aquard as they are on stand-by.
He said he decided to left out one of the best premier league player in the country because for him he is not physically fit at the moment as he is battling with injury, yet they manage to put a very good squard together and he is happy he is blending the foreign base players which is a very good blend to compete confortably.
He said it was a stressful two weeks putting the work together but he believe in the national team.
