Sierra Leone’s all-time top scorer, Kei Kamara, is expected to make a return to the national team for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against CHAD and Zambia, nearly three years after announcing his retirement from international football.

Kamara, who currently plays for Major League Soccer (MLS), will rejoin Coach Amidu Karim’s squad as Leone Stars prepare for a pivotal double game this month.

Leone Stars are currently third in Group G and must secure victories in both upcoming fixtures to keep their hopes of qualification alive. Kamara’s return is expected to provide a major boost to the team’s attacking options as they face two crucial challenges in their bid to qualify for next year’s tournament.

Kamara, who has been a key figure for Sierra Leone over the years, last played for the national team in March 2021. His decision to come out of retirement underscores his commitment to the national cause and his desire to help the team reach its next major tournament.

The matches against CHAD and Zambia are set to be decisive, and Kamara’s wealth of experience will be invaluable as Leone Stars strive to achieve a place in AFCON 2025.
