In an exclusive interview with the Sierra Leone Football Association Television (SLFA TV), veteran striker Kei Kamara expressed his deep passion for his return to the Leone Stars, following a two-year absence from the national team.

Kamara, whose decision to return has been seen as a crucial boost for the team, shared his unwavering love for Sierra Leone and his ongoing connection to the national squad during his time away from the field.

“I have a strong passion for my country, and I truly love Sierra Leone. Even though I was away for two years, I remained closely connected and followed the team. I participated in spirit, even when I wasn’t on the field. I am grateful that the door was still open for me to return and contribute,” Kamara said.

The 39-year-old forward emphasized the importance of the current moment for Sierra Leone’s football aspirations, particularly the team’s bid to qualify for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). He credited the dedication of both the players and the coaching staff for keeping the team on track.

“This is a critical moment for us. We are striving to create history and bring joy to our country. Our people deserve it. I commend all the players, the team, and the coaching staff for their commitment and determination,” Kamara stated.

Kamara expressed confidence in the team’s potential to secure a spot in AFCON, highlighting their recent performances and the strength of the squad. He expressed his desire to play a key role in the team’s success and help propel Sierra Leone onto the continental football stage.

“We have a strong team that is capable of qualifying for the AFCON. This prospect excites me because I want to be part of a team with hope and potential. We have performed well in recent games, and I believe that my leadership and skills on the field can contribute positively to our success,” Kamara explained.

In addition to his focus on football, Kamara delivered an inspiring message to Sierra Leone’s youth, urging them to look up to him as a role model. He stressed his commitment to being a positive influence, both on and off the pitch, and to using his platform to inspire the next generation of Sierra Leoneans.

“I have a message for the young people of Sierra Leone. I hope that many of you are able to witness my journey and see me as a role model that you can look up to. My actions are driven by my desire to see you all have brighter futures than I have had. Ultimately, my goal is to contribute to the progress of our nation,” Kamara shared.

As the Leone Stars prepare for crucial qualifiers, Kamara concluded by expressing his optimism for the team’s success and the opportunity to bring pride to Sierra Leone on the global stage.

“We have ambitious goals, and wherever I go, I strive to be a representative of all of you. I am optimistic that our team will achieve great things and bring pride to Sierra Leone. My hope is that our success will open doors for you all to have even greater opportunities for a prosperous future,” Kamara said.

With his leadership and determination, Kamara’s return is seen as a pivotal moment for Sierra Leone’s football ambitions, as they aim to make their mark on the international stage and inspire the youth of the nation.
