The second leg of the Leone Rock Premier League officially began today (Thursday), March 5, 2026, signaling a fresh phase for domestic football in Sierra Leone, the Premier League Board (PLB) announced.
In a statement marking the kickoff, the PLB praised the progress made during the first half of the season, highlighting a peaceful and competitive environment as the result of concerted effort by all stakeholders. “This was no coincidence; it was the result of deliberate and collective effort from every corner of our football community,” the Board said.
The statement, attributed to the PLB management, expressed gratitude to the Sierra Leone Football Association’s Executive Committee for their support, and acknowledged the contributions of clubs, players, referees, journalists, and fans.
“To our referees, I express sincere appreciation for your commitment to fairness and for managing high‑pressure matches with professionalism. To our esteemed sports journalists and media houses, thank you for keeping the nation engaged,” the statement read.
The Board also set high expectations for the second leg, calling for top-level competition and sportsmanship. “My expectation is simple: I want this to be the most spectacular half of football we have ever witnessed in Sierra Leone. Let the competition on the pitch be fierce, the tactics brilliant, and ultimately, let the best team win the league purely on merit,” the statement added.
In addition to promoting performance excellence, the PLB emphasized the importance of discipline and adherence to league regulations. Stakeholders were urged to respect match officials, follow sporting laws, and maintain exemplary conduct to safeguard the integrity of the league.
The management reassured the public of the Board’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and a level playing field for all clubs. “Under this administration, and with the continued cooperation of all stakeholders, the integrity of the game will not only be restored but rigorously upheld,” the PLB said.
With the second leg now underway, football fans across the country are anticipating renewed rivalries, thrilling goals, and continued passion for the sport. The PLB concluded its statement by encouraging all to celebrate Sierra Leonean football and let the games begin.
