The Sierra Leone National Senior Men’s Team, popularly known as the Leone Stars, has safely arrived in Monrovia, Liberia, ahead of their crucial Total Energies 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers match against Chad. The much-anticipated clash is set for Friday, September 6, 2024.
The home-based contingent, comprising eight players, is currently staying at the Boulevard Palace in Monrovia, where they are making final preparations for the big game. The team is under the leadership of Sorie Ibrahim Sesay, the Director of Competition, who is serving as the team administrator for this mission. Joining him are Mohamed Bowen Freeman, the Safety and Security Officer, Head Coach Amidu Karim, his backroom staff, and the locally-based players.
The Leone Stars are expected to be at full strength by this evening, with 17 foreign-based players scheduled to join the squad later today. The team will hold their first full training session at the SK D Stadium as they finalize their strategy for the must-win encounter against Chad.
