About three days ago news of Singida Black Stars, Tanzanian Premier League club, terminating the contract of Sierra Leone national team goalkeeper, Mohamed Nbalie Kamara surfaced on social media.

The news was widely shared by notable local sports news platforms like SLPL Update indicating that the goalkeeper failed to impress the club less than a year after his move from Guinean club, AC Horoya.

But a day later, a contrary view emerged stating that Kamara’s contract was never terminated but he requested for a loan move to another Tanzanian club called Pamba SC in order for him to have more minutes. This news was confirmed by some reputable local football sources.

Pamba SC, while not denying their interest in Kamara, stated that they will only sign the former East End Lions goalkeeper if their goalkeeper, Yona Amos completes his move to Azam FC.

The club said, “If Azam FC send enough offer for Yona, then Pamba will go for Kamara.”

The deal is expected to be completed by this Sunday if Yona moves to Azam FC.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars confirmed that the Sierra Leone shot-stopper is not part of their plans for 2025 irrespective of the one-and-half year remaining on his contract.

Kamara gained prominence in Sierra Leone football when he won the Sierra Leone Premier League with East End Lions in 2019. He shortly received a national call-up and went on to man the post for the Leone Stars at the 2021 AFCON finals in Cameroon where he prevented defending champions Algeria from scoring thereby clinching the man of the match award for that match.

The 25-year-old is believed to currently struggling with his form as the Leone Stars also dropped him to the bench for the final two matches of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.

Local football fans are calling for the 6ft 2in goalkeeper to return to the Sierra Leone Premier League which is due to start on the 20th December.
