Mighty Blackpool Football Club has issued an official statement to address growing public interest and varying accounts surrounding the recent resignation of its Chairman, Mr. Michael.

In a press release issued by the club, the management emphasized its commitment to transparency and fairness in leadership decisions. The clarification comes after speculation mounted following Mr. Michael’s unexpected departure.

According to the club, the issue arose when a shareholder and board member raised concerns over the independence of the club’s appointed representative for the upcoming Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Congress. In response, the Board of Directors held a series of meetings—three in total—to deliberate on the matter.

“After extensive discussions, the issue was subjected to a vote,” the statement noted. “The Board reached a majority decision to appoint a new representative to attend the SLFA Congress on behalf of the club.”

Following this decision, Mr. Michael submitted his resignation to the executive and officially relinquished his shares to the club’s fan base—a move described by the club as a demonstration of his commitment to the institution.

Mighty Blackpool FC extended its appreciation to Mr. Michael for his contributions during his tenure as Chairman, noting that further comments will be made in due course.

The club also expressed gratitude to its fans, stakeholders, and the wider football community for their steadfast support.

“As we move forward, our focus remains firmly on the club’s growth and long-term ambitions,” the statement concluded.

Mighty Blackpool FC is one of Sierra Leone’s most historic football institutions, and the Board assures supporters that it remains committed to upholding the values of integrity and professionalism during this transitional period.
