The defending champions, Mogbewomo Queens FC, have clinched the title of the 2023-24 League Season in spectacular fashion, remaining unbeaten throughout their campaign.

The team played 22 matches, securing 21 victories and one draw, showcasing a dominant performance that left their competitors far behind. With an impressive tally of over 86 goals scored and only 9 conceded, Mogbewomo Queens amassed 64 points to end the season as the Invincibles.

Following them in the league standings were FC Kallon, Ram-K, Koya Queens, and Mena Queens, who garnered 55, 40, 37, and 35 points, respectively. At the bottom of the table, Correctional Service FC and Albitaya Queens faced relegation, finishing in the 11th and 12th positions with 15 and 0 points respectively.

Mid-table teams Patricia Umu, VEM FC, and Malema Queens secured 6th, 7th, and 8th positions with 31, 29, and 27 points respectively, while SL Police FC finished in 8th place with 24 points.

The league’s top scorer for the second consecutive season was Kumba Z. Brima of FC Kallon, who netted 39 goals. She was closely followed by Mariama Sambu with 32 goals, and Kadiatu M. Kamara of Mogbewmo Queens, who scored 18 goals. Other notable scorers included Sarah Turay of Koya Queens and Salamatu J. Kamara, both with 13 goals, while Wuyah Mohai of Mogbewmo Queens and Lucy Kikeh of FC Kallon each scored 12 goals.

In terms of assists, Kadiatu M. Kamara of Mogbewmo Queens led the pack with 25 assists, followed by Adama Kargbo of FC Kallon with 21 assists. Wuyah Mohai of Mogbewmo Queens, Rashidatu Kamara of Mogbewmo Queens, and Kumba Z. Brima of FC Kallon also made significant contributions with 12, 11, and 11 assists respectively.

The success of this season was underpinned by significant financial support from the government of Sierra Leone, which sponsored the league with SLE2,879,700/00. Additional sponsorship came from the Sierra Leone Football Association, Mr. Didi Abu, and LeoneRock.

The Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League, now in its second season, has quickly become one of the most competitive football leagues in the country. The season officially launched on December 23, 2023, at the Southern Arena in Bo City, with a grand opening ceremony where the defending champions, Mogbewmo Queens FC, defeated Ram-K 1-0. The event was attended by several dignitaries and drew crowds from various walks of life.

A total of 12 teams participated in this league season, each receiving financial support from the league board. The board provided a total of NLE120,000 to each team, distributed in two phases: NLE40,000 during the first phase and NLE80,000 during the second phase. The champions will receive an additional SLE200,000, while the runners-up will get SLE150,000.

The 2023-24 season has been marked by exceptional performances and strong organizational support, setting a high standard for future seasons of the Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League.
