The National Practice Field on Sunday hosted the 2026 World Intellectual Property Day celebrations, bringing together stakeholders from government, sports, and the creative sector for an event focused on the link between innovation, sport, and cultural expression.
The programme featured a series of activities aimed at showcasing both creative and physical talent, including bodybuilding demonstrations and cultural performances. Organisers said the displays reflected the country’s growing pool of artistic and athletic potential, while also reinforcing the importance of protecting creativity through intellectual property rights.
The celebrations were held as part of broader efforts to raise awareness of intellectual property rights and their role in supporting national development and innovation-driven growth.
A major highlight of the event was an exhibition football match between two selected teams. The match was officially opened by the Minister of Sports alongside other senior government officials, drawing attention from participants and spectators.
The game ended goalless after two ten-minute halves, with both sides failing to find the breakthrough in regular play. The contest was eventually decided by a penalty shootout, where Team B emerged victorious with a 5–4 win over Team A.
Following the sporting activities, trophies and certificates of participation were presented to teams and contributors in recognition of their involvement and support for the event.
Organisers and participants described the celebration as successful, noting that it brought together diverse groups in support of efforts to deepen understanding of intellectual property rights and their importance in fostering sustainable national development.
