The Sierra Leone Premier League Board (PLB) has announced new dates for the second phase of the player registration window.
The Board announced on Friday evening that the window will be opened on March 29 and closing on April 17 —ineffecting an earlier date announced in October last year.
The Board announced last October that the said window will commence on February 1 and end on March 3. The earlier dates were contested by some clubs which has prompted the Board to move the dates to the end of March and mid-April.
“The Premier League Board after becoming aware of the legal implications of sticking to the February 2nd to March 3rd date was announced in October 2024 by the SLFA as the player registration window for the current season,” the Board said in a public notice issued on Friday.
The Board urged clubs to adhere to the new dates and warned of consequences for noncompliance.
“Sticking to the earlier date will be in direct contradiction and blatant violation of the Rules,” the Board said. “As a matter of fact, the non-compliance of the said earlier announced date with Article 8.8 of the Rules means that it has become null and void by operation of the provision of the Rules.”
Meanwhile, the PLB offered a leeway for clubs willing to make use of the international transfer period by contacting the TMS Manager at the SLFA.
The transfer window provides Premier League clubs with a crucial opportunity to enhance their squads. Each season, clubs can make player transfers during two designated periods: at the end of the season and midway through it. This allows teams to address any weaknesses and bring in new talent as needed.
