The long-term serving football administrator and incumbent Chairman of Mighty Blackpool one of Sierra Leone’s most successful football clubs Rodney Edmond Michael have been nominated for the Chairman of the year category in the 2022 national sports awards organised by the Ministry of Sports in collaboration with Sierra Sport Paladin.
Rodney Michael and his executive took over Mighty Blackpool fifteen months ago in September 2021 and quickly succeeded in ensuring the fans restore confidence in the club, with an unbeaten run during its first nine games in the second round of the previous league and finishing in the fourth position with fifty (50) points out of thirty-four matches played.
Chairman Michael in an interview with NewsFeed Sierra Leone described his nomination as a sign that displays how he and his executive has been tirelessly working towards restoring the glories of the club “my nomination is a win for us all the executive members of Mighty Blackpool this testifies that we have been doing a tremendous work since we accepted our various appointments a year and months ago” he established.
Also under his leadership before the kick-start of the 2022/23 Sierra Leone Premier League season which they commenced against Old Edwardians with a 1-1 draw, Mighty Blackpool secured five sponsorship deals; Rokel Commercial Bank(RCB), Lagonda, Bondu’s WhatsApp fast food, Cribs International, and Shine Stars noting “I want to reaffirm my commitment to the fans that I will continue to serve the interest of Mighty Blackpool and with a collaborative effort we can continue to achieve more success stories” he concluded.
