After successful seasons in his former club FC Johansen, East End Lions is delighted to confirm the signing of Former Inter Allies and FC Johansen’s Ghanian Central Midfielder Samuel Kwaku Bekoe.

Samuel, 25, joins the 14-times Sierra Premier League winners on a two-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year as a free agent after leaving FC Johansen following a two-year stint with the club. The 25-year-old will join his new team for preseason ahead of the 2022/23
premier league season.

Speaking about joining Sierra Leone after he departed for Ghana few days ago, Samuel disclosed his emotions to join The Killers after turning down other premier league clubs in Sierra Leone.

“I feel very excited in joining East End Lions FC. Coming back to Sierra Leone and the love for the country is a major factor behind my decision. I feel strong and passionate about Sierra Leone, a country I am so proud off. I received so many offers from other Sierra Leonean Clubs, but I believe East End Lions is the best for the progress of my career.” Samuel Kwaku Bekoe mentioned.

“I know a bit about this club already, having been an opponent on few occasions in the last two seasons, it history with Ghanian footballers and so many other things. Now playing for a club like East End Lions with the rich history and a great and entertaining fanbase feels like a dream come true.” Samuel Kwaku Bekoe continued.

As an opportunity given to work with Sierra Leone’s superb coaches Francis Zappa Koroma, the player showed ecstacy with enthusiasm to return back to Sierra Leone to join teammates ahead of the 2022/2023 Premier League season.

“The opportunity to work with Francis Zappa Koroma, a brilliant coach, and some of the best players in Sierra Leone was simply too good to turn down, and can’t wait to return back to Sierra Leone and join my teammates”. Samuel Continued

Samuel has developed into one of the best central midfielders since he first come to Sierra Leone three years ago. In that period, he won the most man of the match awards and was named in the 2021/22 Sierra Leone Premier League Team of the Season despite his side failing to make the top four.

Club Chairman Ambassador Anthony Navo Junior described Samuel Bekoe as a “fantastic” signing with “exceptional quality”. “He is a perfect fit in terms of the coach’s philosophy and the style of football he wants to play”.

“Our Club has a very rich history with Ghanians back to the good old days of Atto Mensah and Co. An era the Club was nicknamed Eastern Ghana. We are very excited of working with these young and determined lads. Samuel being the third Ghanian to join the club this week following the capture of Abdul Nyamekye and David Nii Lante Mills, will give us the correct fit to go one step further than last season to title glory”, added Chairman Navo.

Samuel will return to Sierra Leone in the next few days to join up his new teammates before the Club’s first preseason match in readiness for the new campaign.
