A well-known journalist and lecturer, Sheku Putka Kamara, has donated Ten Thousand New Leones (NLe10,000) to boost the Bullom Stars Football Club.
The club competes in the Leone Rock Premier League and proudly represents the Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, showcasing local talent and fostering community unity through sport.
Kamara, a native of Lungi, articulated his motivation for that generous donation, citing the financial constraints the team has faced in recent times. “While skill, luck, and strength are critical in football, the ability to manage a team effectively and secure necessary funding is equally important. This donation is my way of contributing to ensure the team can continue to thrive,” he stated.
Reportedly, the Bullom Stars have experienced significant challenges since their promotion to the Premier League, with a pressing need for support from local leaders and stakeholders. Many calls for assistance have been met with silence, leading to growing concerns among fans and community members regarding the team’s sustainability.
Kamara emphasized the importance of collective responsibility and community support: “We must remember that this is the only place some of us truly call home. It’s essential for all of us to make sacrifices for our chiefdom’s welfare,” he said passionately.
In a commitment to ensure sustained support, Kamara outlined that the NLe10,000 donation will be dispensed in monthly installments of NLe1,000 over the next ten months, starting in April 2025.
“I view this as a strategic commitment that will hopefully pave the way for greater support in the future,” he remarked, expressing hope that his contribution will encourage others in the community to step forward as well.
Kamara’s initiative has evidently highlighted an ongoing need for proactive community involvement in local sporting efforts and serves as a clarion call for others to contribute to the growth and stability of the Bullom Stars Football Club.
